UK and Scottish Parliaments meet to discuss Malawi trade: 7th March

The UK Parliament's All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Malawi and the Scottish Parliament's Cross Party Group (CPG) on Malawi are having a special joint meeting on the 7th March 2018 at 18.00, with a live video-link between the two. To our knowledge, this is the first time the two Parliaments have ever been linked in this way.

The meeting will focus on business and trade with Malawi and we are delighted to have Nick O'Donohue, Chief Executive of the Commonwealth Development Corporation (CDC), speaking to MPs and Lords at the Westminster meeting. Nick O'Donohue joined CDC in June 2017 and has already been to Malawi to visit CDC's investments. With CDC's portfolio potentially significantly increasing in coming years, given the CDC Act 2017, we look forward to using this meeting to press the importance of investments into Malawi.

MSPs in the Scottish Parliament meeting will be addressed by the Chief Executive of Mzuzu Coffee, Mr Bernard Kaunda.

There will be a range of Malawian exports samples at both meetings. The meetings are organised by the Scotland Malawi Partnership, as part of their 2018 Buy Malawian campaign.

Those wishing to attend either the Westminster or Holyrood meetings, should email david@scotland-malawipartnership.org
